It is easy to make a simple case complicated, but it's hard to make a complicated case simple. By taking the complex and making it seem simple, Ryan Kent has won summary judgment verdicts in patent cases in the Eastern District of Texas and the Northern District of California and a bench trial in the District of Massachusetts, as well as several jury trials in which he was the lead counsel.
Ryan's particular expertise is in intellectual property litigation. He has successfully defended companies in fields ranging from computer hardware to speech recognition software to biotechnology. Ryan's practice also extends to other complex civil litigation, including class actions and professional malpractice cases.
Ryan is a founding partner of Durie Tangri. He was formerly a partner at San Francisco's Keker & Van Nest, and served as a law clerk to the Honorable Tena Campbell of the United States District Court for the District of Utah in 2001-2002. Ryan received his Juris Doctor degree from Yale Law School in 2001 and his Bachelor of Arts at the University of California, San Diego where he played rugby, won a league title and graduated summa cum laude in 1997.
Ryan is a native of San Francisco, where he can be found learning how to surf in the cold waters of Northern California.
